Vyatta – Blocking unwanted websites

Blocking websites with a transparant Vyatta proxy is easy to install and safe to use. You can use this in any home or business situation. Users will not notice the transparent proxy to be in place.
Run the following commands to enable the webproxy (transparent) on the internal interface:
set service webproxy listen-address 192.168.1.1
set service webproxy url-filtering squidguard local-block twitter.com
set service webproxy url-filtering squidguard local-block facebook.com
set service webproxy url-filtering squidguard local-block youtube.com
commit
This basicly just blocks sites that you want. There is however also a very cool feature called SquidGuard preinstalled on Vyatta, this allows you to block websites based on a group filter:
set service webproxy listen-address 192.168.1.1
set service webproxy url-filtering squidguard block-category malware
set service webproxy url-filtering squidguard block-category phishing
set service webproxy url-filtering squidguard block-category porn
set service webproxy url-filtering squidguard block-category spyware
set service webproxy url-filtering squidguard block-category warez
commit
